All General Anesthesia Procedures/Surgeries
Prior to any procedure or surgery, you will be contacted by the nurse and given instructions on how to properly prepare for your visit. Please feel free to use this page as a helpful reminder of those directions.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, concerns or are unclear about any instructions.
- Please stop all supplements/vitamins 14 days prior to your procedure as directed by the doctor.
- Please make sure you have had all pre-operative testing done in plenty of time before your surgery, i.e. blood tests, EKG, etc.
- Do not EAT or DRINK anything after midnight before your surgery/procedure unless directed by your physician or the nurse. In the a.m., Brush your teeth with minimal water/toothpaste (do not swallow water, spit out).
- Do not drink any alcohol within 24 hours of your procedure.
- Remove all jewelry, including rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and any body piercings. Please leave these items at home.
- Do not wear any contact lenses the day of your procedure. If you wear glasses, bring a labeled case for them.
- If you wear dentures or partials, please bring a labeled case for them.
- Do not wear make-up or perfume of any kind.
- Do wear comfortable clothing and shoes, i.e. warm-up suit, sweats, yoga pants, socks.
- Please bring the name and phone number for your pharmacy. Prescriptions can be called in after your procedure.
- Driver does not have to stay while you are in surgery, but we will keep him/her updated as you wish. Please provide the name and phone number of your driver prior to the procedure.
- The nurse will confirm your arrival time the night before your procedure.
- If you are childbearing age, a urine pregnancy test will be performed upon your arrival.
- Please make arrangements for someone to spend the night with you the day of your procedure. (To help with medication administration, meals and assisting you to the restroom.)
Pre-op instructions: Specific Procedures/Surgeries
Follow these instructions in addition to the above General Instructions if you are having:
Blepharoplasty, Ptosis Repair, Rhytidectomy, Rhinoplasty (Any Facial/Neck procedures).
- Shower the night before or morning of your procedure.
- Wash your hair.
- Wash your face with antibacterial soap.
- Do not use facial lotions or crèmes of any kind.
Breast Augmentations, Mastopexy, Abdominoplasty or Liposuction (Any body procedure).
- Shower the night before or morning of your procedure.
- Wash your hair and face.
- Wash your body with antibacterial soap.
- Do not use lotions or crèmes of any kind.
- You may apply deodorant.
